Introduction Every guild should have a code of conduct, a ruleset by which they interact with those around them each day. For many guilds this is as simple as a few hastily scribbled notes that all agree to. For others it is a thirty page document filled with hundreds of rules. The objective of this charter is to put into words the standards that we believe in and to make a happy medium between having no rules and having too many. The reality of it is that you cannot have a rule prepared for every situation and if you did, you'd find your eyes glazing over trying to read them, but having the basics set out in advance really helps. The aim of the guild November is to advance through the game, setting ourselves the challenges of moving on to bigger and better instances whilst maintaining a friendly attitude. We are a dedicated raiding guild and place high, but not unreasonable, demands on our members and we expect the best players that this server has to offer. Our members, without exception, are mature and responsible adults and are used to working together as a team and alone to further the goals of the guild. We live by a simple rule: the progression of the guild is paramount. As our intention is to progress and see all the content World of Warcraft has to offer, our expectation is that our members will be consistently working towards this goal. This does not mean that you are not allowed to pursue your own personal goals but that you prioritise activities which benefit the guild first, including obtaining all necessary keys and items required for advancement. Code of Conduct The most fundamental aspect of the charter is the code of conduct; the way people interact with each other. Members should treat everyone they come into contact with courteously and with maturity at all times. This covers everything from behaviour in groups and raids to conduct on the forums. The reputation of the guild is paramount and by wearing the guild’s tabard and displaying the guild’s name it is your duty to protect that reputation at all times. As such, the code of conduct is especially important when dealing with the general populace of the server. It is accepted that guildchat may contain conversations with adult themes and language and this is the fundamental reason for our 18+ policy. Applicants who are sensitive to such conversations may wish to consider this. However, excessive profanity or vulgarity is frowned upon as are explicit and suggestive conversations or behaviour in non-guild channels. Most importantly the guild will not tolerate any form of hatred based on ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation and any member engaging in such activities will be removed from the guild immediately without reference to the disciplinary procedure. RecruitmentRecruitment within the guild is a slow and exacting process. We take people into the guild because they fit in, both in terms of their ability and their personality and we make no exceptions. We are not a social club or branded chat channel and will only seek to recruit members who are, or have the potential to be, good players. Similarly we will not accept member based solely on their ability to play the game. Any members who do not fit into the guild’s rapport will also be asked to leave. If you are looking to apply to the guild you can register your interest by completing this form. If your application is successful you will be invited to the guild for a probationary period of up to 21 days. During a probationary period Initiates will be judged by the current membership based on their attitude, conduct and ability. On the 15th day of your probation the officers will review your application again and will vote to see if the application has been successful. Should the vote be tied a second vote will take place at which point every member of the guild will be allowed to vote. Any more then five “no” votes will result in immediate removal. All applicants should have a mature attitude and a good working grasp of the English language. Use of internet slang, or “leetspeak” as a major form of communication will not be tolerated. Newer applicants should consider the guild’s official raiding times ( shown below ) before applying Raiding Requirements For the majority of the time you are free to do what you wish, when you wish but it is expected that you will ensure that your obligations to the guild have been met. This will mean that your main character is adequately equipped for the content the guild is facing and that you provide support to other guild members. The guild formally raids on Thursday, Sunday and Tuesday between the hours of 19:45 UK Time and 23:45 UK Time. Whilst we do not penalise any member who is not online during those hours it is expected that any member online will make his or herself available for raiding. Members are expected to attend an average of two out of every three raids. We do not have any objection to members joining non-guild raids or instances on any night in which an official guild raid does not take place but members should speak to an officer before entering into any raid instance with a "lock-out". Members who are unable to attend a guild raid because they are saved to a previous instance will be treated as if they had chosen not to attend and may face disciplinary action. We understand that real life commitments come first and we also understand that sometimes you just want to relax and have fun. What you should also remember is that you join a guild to be part of something bigger and a person who refuses to join in with guild activities over a prolonged period of time, or who is online yet frequently late for raids, will be asked to leave. If for any reason you are unable to participate in guild activities, or expect to be late, please speak to an officer as soon as possible. This will help the officers to coordinate that day’s raid for the benefit of everyone. There is no minimum consumable requirement but all members are expected to ensure that they are fully prepared for each raid. In addition to this all characters will be expected to provide instance specific potions, such as resistance or protection potions. Food, elixirs, and flasks are optional, but encouraged. It is expected that all members will endeavour to research the encounters that the guild is likely to face in line with our current progression and the Officers will do their best to assist in this matter where possible. It is important that all members have a basic understanding of the encounter, the target's abilities, and the strategies we are likely to consider. All members of the guild looking to participate on raids should download and install CTRA or ORA2 Raid Assist and Bigwigs. These mods should be considered mandatory and any member who does not have them will be turned away from all raids. We do try to make the guild a sociable place but there are times when this is not possible. Whilst raiding with the guild it is expected that you will give the raid the attention that it deserves and refrain from any activity which may prove hazardous to the raid. Please try to remove any distractions that you can and refrain from excessive conversation. Any members jeopardizing the raid in any way may be removed from the raid without warning. This will not be considered as a disciplinary action although continued repetition may provoke such action. Disciplinary ActionsThe majority of the guild’s rules are informal and in most cases unwritten. It is not our goal to set out a list of offences or behaviour to which people must adhere to. However it is clear that the guild has been formed based on certain principles. If those principles are not being followed the officers will speak to a person directly and advise them of the situation. This should not be considered a warning or a disciplinary action. If the behaviour continues disciplinary action will ensue in the following manner. 1. A formal warning will be given directly to the member by an Officer of the guild. During this conversation that member will be given an opportunity to discuss the situation. The warning will be given in the form of a /whisper and will clearly indicate the nature of the warning. 2. If the behaviour continues the member will be issued with a second formal warning. This will be given in the form of an e-mail or private message and will again clearly indicate the nature of the warning. 3. Any further transgressions will be met with immediate guild removal. Please note that disciplinary actions are cumulative and any member who has previously been formally warned for one offence will not receive a “first formal warning” for an unrelated offence. The disciplinary procedure does not apply to new members on a probationary period. Any initiates who break the guild’s rules will be spoken to by an officer on a casual basis. Any subsequent transgressions will result in an immediate termination of the probationary period and removal from the guild. If you have any concern regarding the behaviour of any guildmember you should report this behaviour to an officer as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Any specific and targeted reprimands given by anyone who is not an officer will be treated as a deviation from the guild’s code of conduct and will be dealt with via the disciplinary procedure outlined above. Loot Rules The requirements for each instance are varied and change constantly and, as a result, the guild’s loot rules are extremely flexible in order to compensate. November uses a number of systems to allocate loot fairly between it’s members these will be listed in full shortly. In all circumstances loot will be awarded in the following order; Members, Initiates, Guests, Alternate Characters. An offspec roll may take place if there are no other bidders. Please note that certain zones have specific drops and specific rules which take precedent to the normal loot rules. Where possible we will attempt to inform you before the raid starts or as soon as possible thereafter. Loot rules can be view in full here. - Coming Soon Alternate Characters Whilst we understand that people enjoy playing different characters it is the responsibility of every member of the guild to ensure the guild’s success and as a result alternate characters will be managed very strictly. As a result you may only play an alternate character once your primary character has reached an acceptable standard. This includes being attuned to all the required instances, having the required reputation for each heroic instance and being suitably geared for the challenges we are facing at the time. In the event that this is not possible e.g. if there aren't enough available members to form a five man group, you may play on your alt providing that you consider the needs of the guild first. Any member of the guild can request that alternate characters are added to the guild roster but in order to ensure that the guild list does not become cluttered we ask that you do not guild alternate characters which you do not play on a regular basis. Alternate characters that have not been played in over 14 days will be automatically removed from the guild. For the same reason we also ask that situational characters such as mules do not seek entry. At no point shall any player bid or roll on an item with the intention of passing that item to an alternate character. The commitment you extend to the guild is an important one and we do expect a certain amount of loyalty. By joining November you agree not to have any characters in any other guild. The Guild BankThe guild bank has been set up to as a repository for items and other equipment which may benefit the guild in its entirety. Examples of items accepted by the guild’s bank are weaponry, armour, recipes, trade items, potions gems and glyphs. Permissions are set within the guild bank to allow full members to take up to three items per day. However, you should notify your intentions to remove large or expensive items by posting in The Armoury section on the guild's forums. Uncommon items sent to the guild’s bank and not claimed may be sold to generate revenue. These funds will be utilized by the officers in order to benefit the guild (i.e. recipes, consumables, etc.) Guild InformationWhilst we will endeavour to convey necessary information to the guild by using in-game methods, it is clear that our options are limited in this respect. As such, members should take the time to read the web site and the forums on a regular basis to stay up to date with current events. This is our most important form of communication after guildchat and should be treated as such. The guild channel, the guild only area of the web-site, and the guild’s Ventrilo channel are to be considered private at all times. As such you should not pass on information obtained from any of these locations to non-members or allow other people to view these items in your absence. Any member who is found to have passed on private information will be subject to the disciplinary procedure. The Ventrilo channel is for guild members only and you should not pass the channels details to anyone under any circumstance. MiscellaneousAny member or applicant who has any issues with the guild’s charter should contact an officer as soon as possible. Protests such as open argument with the guild’s charter will be treated as deviation from the guild’s code of conduct. Any member leaving the guild and wishing to return will need to apply through the usual channels. If their application is successful they will be treated as an initiate and will undergo a probationary period as per the terms of the application process. Any member who, after rejoining the guild, chooses to leave the guild again will be removed permanently. This charter has been verified by all officers of November and has been agreed upon by mutual consent. By being a member of November or applying to join the guild you hereby agree to the rules laid out above. The charter is subject to change as and when it is required and does not represent a full and final account of the guild’s rulings. If the charter changes at any point the new rules will be highlighted in the general forum. Last Revision – 20th January 2009
