We were on a break!

As a guild we usually take a break over Christmas. Whilst some members still have time to play the game, for many of us it's just too busy to get online so we were on a tight deadline to get some mobs cleared out of the way.

With Trial of the Crusader cleared some time ago we needed to tick some boxes and Yogg'Saron was the first on the list. I'm pleased to say that, whilst the fight was anything but easy, we finished him off in one sitting.

The next patch came and Icecrown Citadel opened up before us. The guild made short work of the first three bosses and it's fair to say those are now trivial to us. Saurfang, proved somewhat harder and clearly represents a step up in the chain. It took us three evenings of attempts before we finally found a strategy that worked for us as a guild and, with the raid going into extra time, Deathbringer Saurfang was no longer able to resist our amassed strength. Congratulations to all involved for all the hard work they put in. 2010 has much in store for us and there is lots to be done before the sundering of Azeroth.

New news has been a little while coming, but that's what happens when you have near everything killed. Last night saw us venture into Trial of the Grand Crusader, with some great work on Gormok demonstrating that as a guild we nearly have the level of gear required to beat the timers. Rather than spend the rest of the evening reinforcing that fact, we changed target. In our sights was Sartharion with all her pesky Twilight drakes up, this was a fight we have tried briefly a couple of times before just requiring fine tuning in the middle of the fight (and a bit of class balance). With a couple of good feeler attempts in, the stage was set.

sartharion

I can only apologise to a couple of our hasty portal team who released after dying ready for the next attempt, only to find the hard work was done and they were sat outside while we went on to kill her with little fuss, sorry guys! Guess we'll have to go back next week.

Taelan's Edit : Grrr. We did indeed go back the following week and we gained our titles. We also managed to get a better screenshot!

Generally speaking, it was faultless

This week saw early clears of ToC and Onyxia, so halfway through the raid week, the team started a fresh Ulduar for kicks, clearing to Mimiron in the first sitting. This lead to the final raid of the week taking 25 into the far more brutal and far less forgiving Trial of the Grand Crusader. Valiant efforts were given by all to get us as far as Icehowl but an encounter clear wasn't looking likely, but with spirits high and focus focussed, the attentions returned to Ulduar to repeat the Mimiron success of the previous week. It didn't take long, a one shot infact, giving us another look at the next un-downed encounter for the guild.

With the groundwork laid out the previous week, the brief was short, the plan was clear and the raid was set to run the General through and keep up our recent run of new boss firsts, (well while Taelan is away, its only fair we stick to tradition). The first attempt saw a small mistake go a long way, or should that be 'create a long run back for attempt 2'? But we won't name names, we aren't into that sort of thing in November, right Marco? ;) So, fresh buffs, fresh vigour and the warm-up out the way, we set about attempt number 2, and that was all we needed!

It was a great show of discipline and focus by all, it can be a bit of a tortoise vs hare style encounter but everyone plugged away brilliantly to an effortless, near perfect takedown, great job all!

Next week, we go tickle Yogg Saron, get your slime retardant suits out the bank, he's not pretty.
